Gretchen has been in the accounting profession since 1982, when she realized she wasn’t going to make much money in music. But music and math have a lot in common: measures, notes and precision, among other things. Gretchen discovered that she had a talent for accounting and pursued a career as a CPA.
She has been with the Foundation since 2008, and it’s her team’s role to make sure people, bills and grants get paid. The annual audit, tax returns, financial reviews of grants and reporting of investments are also on the team’s to-do list. She feels strongly that quality health care is important to living happy and productive lives, and believes the financial work that team members do goes far in promoting those goals throughout Colorado.
Gretchen not only makes her numbers sing, her passion for music continues to this day. Her main hobby and volunteer activity is singing with the Colorado Symphony Chorus. Gretchen lives a healthy life that includes walking at least 10,000 steps a day and occasionally hiking the Colorado Trail off of Kenosha Pass.
