Celebrating Colorado Nonprofits Bringing Health in Reach

As the world opened up after nearly two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, one thing was clear for us at the Foundation: We needed to dedicate our time to working creatively within this new reality, while continuing to prioritize the communities most impacted. Colorado’s nonprofit ecosystem showed us what commitment to community looks like in the ways they shifted practices to more deeply engage in the fight for health equity and racial justice.

In a world faced with so many challenges, we looked to Colorado’s nonprofit community with admiration and respect. We saw folks showing up to the work again and again with humility, innovation and heart. You make all the difference.

We are humbled to continue learning about your work and the paths you have chosen to meet the needs of those you serve. This is why we proudly continue our annual tradition of selecting Colorado-based nonprofits to receive a $10,000 holiday donation, recognizing them for their commitment to advancing equity and justice.

Please join us as we congratulate this year’s recipients:

  • El Centro de Los Pobres: Serves the immigrant community of Southern Colorado by providing clothing, household goods, medical care, immigration and educational support.
  • Gay for Good: Mobilizes lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and ally volunteers to promote diversity, foster inclusion and strengthen ties to the broader community.
  • Power to the People Creative Arts Project: Works to inspire youth leadership, promote multi-generational health and wellness and increase avenues and opportunities that focus on building thriving Black youth and families.

We are energized for the work ahead to make Colorado a place where everyone – no matter their identity, socioeconomic status or geographic location – has health in reach. We will continue to let our inspiration and learnings from your work help us shape our own. On behalf of our staff and Board, thank you. Your work truly matters.
