The Colorado Health Foundation today announced that Ed Scholz will join the Foundation as chief financial and administrative officer. Scholz will assume the role later this summer following the retirement of Mark Evans.
“I’m honored to join The Colorado Health Foundation at such a pivotal moment, when advancing health equity and racial justice are more important than ever,” said Scholz. “I look forward to working alongside this talented team to ensure that the Foundation’s resources are stewarded in a way that maximizes impact and strengthens the communities it serves.”
Scholz most recently served as executive vice president of finance and operations for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, where he focused on developing sustainable strategies to advance the museum’s goals. Before joining the museum, he worked for the City and County of Denver for over a decade, including as budget director, deputy chief financial officer and chief financial officer.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ed to our team. His exceptional experience in financial leadership and passion for mission-driven work make him a perfect fit for the Foundation,” said Karen McNeil-Miller, president and CEO of the Foundation. “I look forward to working with him to further strengthen our operational and financial practices, ensuring that our efforts advance lasting change for health equity and racial justice across Colorado.”
Scholz's studies in music and finance led him to earn an MBA in nonprofit management from the Binghamton University School of Management and to launch his career in development for public broadcasting. He currently serves on the City and County of Denver’s Audit Committee and sits on the board of the Public Education and Business Coalition.
