Freeze on Federal Grant Funding

declaración de The Colorado Health Foundation

We are all processing the news in real time, as directives from the federal government continue to emerge at a furious pace, with potentially devastating impacts on nonprofit organizations and the communities they serve. The recently announced freeze in federal grant funding, which has been put on hold by a federal judge, is both shocking and overwhelming. We know that these announcements create confusion and chaos and may even exhaust our capacity to respond effectively.

In the face of these challenges, The Colorado Health Foundation remains cleareyed and steadfast in our commitment to supporting the state’s vital nonprofit sector. We recognize the essential role these organizations play in advancing health equity and racial justice. We will continue to stand firm, collaborating with partners, advocating for the vital contributions of nonprofits to the health and well-being of our communities, and ensuring we have the collective resources needed to navigate these uncertain times. We also want to assure our current grantees that any active funding from us is not at risk of being paused or interrupted.

We look forward to continued opportunities to engage with and hear from all of you in the future. To our nonprofit partners potentially affected by a freeze in federal grantmaking: we want to hear from you. Please reach out to us at [email protected] to share your most immediate needs and concerns and how we can best support you.

Update: The freeze referred to in this statement has since been rescinded. Learn more.
