Statement on the Order Impacting Public Broadcasting

Access to accurate news and information is essential to health. It empowers communities to make informed decisions about their well-being and advocate for their needs. Across Colorado, public broadcasting plays a necessary role in providing such information. Yet, the federal administration recently signed an order directing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) to cease funding these vital outlets.

A cessation of funding will disproportionately impact rural communities across our state and represents another attack on historically underserved communities by the administration. Without CPB funding, some rural stations could be forced off the air entirely, leaving residents without access to local news and updates, putting health and well-being out of reach for many.
