Cathy Tran
Cathy Tran (she/her/hers) provides administrative support as part of our Community Investment and Impact team. She primarily focuses on guaranteeing the team’s success and supporting grantees and plays an integral role in making a positive impact on Coloradans with less power, privilege and income.
In addition to her administrative skills, Cathy also brings her perspectives as a scientist and first-generation Vietnamese American to her work at the Foundation. “I am committed to the Foundation's mission because my parents and their parents came to the United States from Vietnam and faced challenges navigating the health care system due to language barriers; their experiences motivated me to contribute in any way that I can to help improve the health of Coloradans or individuals in general.”
Because of her lived experience, Cathy understands the struggles of individuals and communities to access basic needs, and she wants to do her part to support those who need it. “I had moments when I looked back and asked myself, ‘What kind of support did I wish I had when I was younger?’ or ‘What kind of support did my family or community need?’ This [health equity] is what I needed.”
Cathy started at the Foundation in 2024. She joined, she says, because “I felt like it was time to be part of something that mattered to my family, myself and the bigger community, and I want to give back.”
Outside of work, Cathy plays tennis and hikes and can often be found with a book in hand. She also enjoys painting and houses a painting station at her desk that encourages her colleagues to tap into their creative sides.
