Charles Reese Jr.

Program Officer
Priority Areas I Work In:

Advocacy, Capacity Building, Community Solutions, Locally-focused Work: Pueblo, Crowley, Otero

On a two decades plus quest for personal and professional growth, Charles brings a wealth of experience and leadership in working with various organizations from the federal level to the local level. He has focused his career on the power that operations and processes can play in improving equity for those who live on the margins.

Most recently, Charles developed and honed his skills at the director level with the Summit Youth Services Center. This commitment to equity led him to work in varying roles, where his passion as an advocate for children and families took off. It was this desire that brought Charles to The Colorado Health Foundation as a program officer focused on the Advocacy, Community Solutions, Capacity Building and Locally-focused Work strategic priorities. Throughout his career, he’s prioritized work with communities of color, and is honored to for the opportunity to ensure that the Foundation listens, learns and lends a hand to lift up necessary services and supports that can positively impact the lives of Coloradans.

Dedicated to personal and professional growth and development, Charles takes every chance to have a conversation that might help someone learn and grow alongside him – be it a family member, friend, colleague or community member. This is something exemplifies and teaches to his three sons, no matter what.

As a child with a parent in the military, Charles calls many places “home,” but often associates “home” with Kansas City, MO. You can find him rooting for anybody but KU, going on a new hike, or snowboarding with his friends or family. He believes that continuous self-development is the key ingredient to a good life, and always tries to recognize where there is opportunity for growth and why. Charles is dedicated to becoming a better version of himself- knowing that as he does this, he comes closer and closer to making the world better for his kids, his family and the communities he is rooting for.

“It is an honor to be able to work daily for people of color, to be able to listen and respond to the needs of the community is something I do not take for granted.”
