As a lifelong Coloradan, Sara is passionate about building stronger communities and helping people thrive in her home state. She has been in the grantmaking field for more than 15 years and with the Foundation since 2008. Prior to joining the Foundation, Sara administered both federal and local grant funds, and provided consulting services to build the capacity of nonprofit organizations across the state.
Sara is responsible for leading the operations related to the Foundation’s complete grantmaking process, from application to final report. She oversees a team that is focused on compliance, the grantee customer experience, process design and grant data reporting.
Sara spends much of her time working collaboratively across the organization to design programs and systems that align the Foundation’s operations with its strategy. She loves to think about how to improve the experiences of grantseekers and grantees. In addition, Sara works alongside our Community Investment & Impact team to ensure that the internal process of considering grants is as seamless as possible.
When approaching her work and in her personal life, Sara believes in using humor to keep things in perspective. She enjoys spending time in the sunshine, and it doesn’t hurt if she has a beer in her hand while doing so. Sara loves visiting places of historical significance across the state. Her favorite Colorado spot? It’s a toss-up between the Alluvial Fan in Rocky Mountain National Park and the Moffat Tunnel.
