Standing with Survivors and Honoring Collective Power

We stand with the survivors of César Chávez’s abuse and honor the courage of Dolores Huerta, Ana Murguia, Debra Rojas, Esmeralda Lopez, and Cynthia Bell in coming forward. Their stories underscore how systems have too often failed survivors, allowing harm to go unaddressed and voices to go unheard. We begin to break that cycle when we listen, believe, and support those who choose to share their truths.

We recognize the weight of this moment and the pain it may surface for many, and we commit to meeting that harm with belief, care, and respect.

Two truths must be held at once—naming harm clearly, while honoring the movements that changed lives. Accountability does not erase a movement. The actions of one person do not diminish the collective power that secured dignity, rights, and protections for farmworkers and Latine communities. We must condemn harm while continuing to stand for justice and community power.
