DENVER, CO – The Colorado Health Foundation today announced an agreement with the Denver Housing Authority (DHA) to purchase land in Denver’s Uptown neighborhood where it will build its new office headquarters. The building will feature "health-positiveSM" design and development standards that focus on the health of visitors and employees.

The Foundation is moving its headquarters from a leased office space in Glendale to the corner of 18th Avenue and Pennsylvania Street in late 2016. The Pennsylvania Street location was chosen for its central location, allowing for greater interaction with grantees, partners and the community. The Uptown neighborhood also boasts high health scores for its wide array of transportation options, including proximity to light rail and ease of walkability and bike-ability.

Foundation Board member Bruce Alexander said the long-term value to the Foundation and the building’s health-positive design helped shape the Board’s decision to approve the purchase.

“The decision to build the permanent home of the Colorado Health Foundation is one we are proud of,” Alexander said. “The Board carefully considered its options and believes the cost-effective building will improve workplace health, the Foundation's accessibility and serve as an example other Colorado employers can replicate."

The Foundation selected Davis Partnership Architects to design the building and The Post Group LLC to manage the project. These firms teamed up with experts from the Foundation, Urban Ventures LLC and YR&G to develop affordable health-positive design standards, which will guide the project.

“The Uptown neighborhood provides the Foundation visibility to promote our vision to be the healthiest state in the nation and an ideal setting to showcase a headquarters that we believe may be the next step in healthy design,” said Rahn Porter, interim CEO and Chief Financial Officer for the Colorado Health Foundation.
