Foundation Names Aron Grodinsky as Chief Investment Officer

Aron Grodinsky

DENVER, CO – Today, The Colorado Health Foundation announced the hiring of Aron Grodinsky as its new chief investment officer (CIO), effective March 28, 2022.

A member of the Finance & Investments team, Aron will oversee the Foundation’s $3 billion investment portfolio of financial assets, supporting the continued delivery of its mission to bring health in reach for all Coloradans.

“Aron comes to our organization with significant and diverse investment management experience, and a belief that health is a basic human right,” said Chief Financial Officer Mark Evans. “He’s a welcomed asset to our team as we continue working to achieve health equity across the state, including centering principles of equity in our investment management practices.”

Aron joins the Foundation as Stan Willie, current CIO, retires. Stan, who has been with the Foundation since 2009, has always taken our mission to heart and found ways to center our North Star of achieving health equity through principles of racial justice in the management of our investment portfolio. “Stan’s steady, studied and intentional approach has been a tremendous gift to our work,” said President and CEO Karen McNeil-Miller. “I’ve enjoyed collaborating with him through pivotal shifts in our investment strategies, including the beginnings of our Diverse Investment Manager Initiative. Stan, thank you, for all that you have brought to our shared work over the years.”

Aron was selected to carry the CIO role forward because of his deep understanding of investment strategies across a multitude of asset classes, and his commitment to mission-driven organizations. He joins the Foundation following 18 years of institutional asset and high net worth investment management experience, all as an allocator of capital. Previously, he was managing director of investment strategies for Cresset Capital Management, a boutique family office and private wealth management firm. He served as executive director at Perella Weinberg Partners/Agility, an outsourced chief investment officer firm. While at Perella Weinberg Partners/Agility, he covered global equities, fixed income and real assets, and assisted with the roll out of Environmental, Social and Governance-focused (ESG)
and mission-related investments, and served on their investment committee. He’s also held positions as senior investment officer at George Washington University’s Investment Office, executive director of investments at UJA-Federation of New York, and vice president of consulting services in the Ultra High Net Worth Office at Merrill Lynch & Co.

I was attracted to the opportunity to join The Colorado Health Foundation given my deep-rooted belief that everyone should have access to health services,” said Aron. “I’m committed to making a positive change in the world, having spent most of my career working for, or with, mission-oriented nonprofit organizations. I’m excited to apply my investment acumen to help further the Foundation’s mission to help Coloradans with challenging socioeconomic circumstances lead more healthful lives.”

Aron serves on the investment committee for JEWISHColorado, where he previously was committee chair and a board member. He is commissioner of the Parks, Trails and Recreation Commission for the City of Cherry Hills Village in Colorado.

Aron lives in Denver with his wife and three children. When he’s not coaching youth baseball and softball, he enjoys spending time in the mountains and visiting national parks.
He holds Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations, and earned his master of business administration from University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, and his bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from McGill University.
