Engaging Colorado's FFN Child Care Providers in Early Childhood Systems

Publication Date

Colorado’s early childhood systems must provide stronger support for family, friend and neighbor (FFN) providers during and beyond pandemic recovery. Engaging Colorado’s FFN Child Care Providers in Early Childhood Systems aims to build a collective understanding of (1) how the voices of FFN providers influence Colorado’s early childhood systems, and (2) how early childhood systems can better support the critical role of FFN providers for young children and families. The report summarizes key issues for FFN providers and recommendations to strengthen systems that promote positive, equitable outcomes for providers and the families they serve. Key findings illustrate this work will require a better understanding of the effects of centuries of racial and cultural discrimination, as well as stronger engagement of the communities most impacted.
